I originally planned to have this blog to serve as an archive of some old articles I wrote during my column stint for a local business newspaper. So when my tenure ended at that particular job, I really thought that my writing days were over.

I did not even bother to check this blog for some 4-6 months. But when I did check it out, I was just amazed that TV Patrol Cebu’s Mr. Leo Lastimosa posted a link to one of my articles on his Twitter account. And Filipino comedian Chokoleyt also commented on a review/blog entry I wrote about a show he did with Pokwang. So all these got me thinking that, though unexpected, there were people reading my articles and maybe I should return to writing again.

But before I got to writing, I first tried to post links of my existing articles on my Facebook account. This move got me more reactions from a lot of friends, convincing me to push through re-booting my blog.

Bonn Aure, an academic blogger, encouraged me to write more. Ronyel Compra, celebrated local visual artist, posted a quote of mine on his Facebook wall. Jojo Villacorta, one of Batch 94′s many hotshots, asked about how he could get updates from my blog. James Siador, genius artist, also encouraged me. Butch Reyes, writer-extraordinaire wrote about my blog that gave this site a lot of visitors. And many more gave comments or reactions to the stuff that I was writing.

It was also Butch’s referral that got me the invite to write for the Midweek sessions blog, a site where Butch R. and Ian Zafra wrote about the local music scene.

So looks like I am back to writing again, even for the meantime.

This blog is really about my ideas; more so, on my observations about a lot of things. Sometimes I will write about personal experiences, sometimes about my interests, and sometimes even random or out-there stuff. And I’d like to keep this blog project I have right here. If I can, I’d like to post blogs in consistent succession.
So yeah, that pretty much covers how this blog, Calm Like a Bang, started and where it’s headed. Now, who is N.M. Cabangbang?

Well, N.M. Cabangbang is a high school art teacher in B.R.I.G.H.T. Academy. When he’s not churning out thoughts and musings in writing as N.M. Cabangbang, he rocks out as “Bangbang” in his 3-man, “long-haired rock and roll” band PALTIK. He’s also a part of the U.P. FASO Alumni, U.P. FASO United Football Team, DB Batch 94, and USJ-R Elementary Batch 1990 organizations.

The writer, N.M. Cabangbang is not without a softer side, too. He loves his wife, family, and his three furball dogs to death.

And he thanks you greatly for reading this blog.
